Quality

Our priority

Quality is a continuous evolution towards new goals to produce excellent, tracked, safe and ethically compliant articles for people and the environment.

We are strategic elements of the fashion system

In synergy with all our supply chain partners, we look for new, effective and sustainable development solutions to improve the quality of our products.

We produce quality leather in an environmentally friendly way

The fashion industry is always evolving, constantly looking for ingenious, innovative, modern and at the same time quality solutions.

Conceria della Neve combines its aptitude for innovation with stylistic research and respect for tradition to increase its performance and offer high quality leathers capable of satisfying the Green Oriented demands of the fashion system.

Sustainable vision, a commitment to the future.

If a tanning company wants to improve its production cycle to make it more environmentally friendly, it has to monitor every stage of the process along the entire production chain, both internally and externally.

Conceria della Neve utilise energy, materials and natural resources efficiently and use water resources responsibly. Since 2007, the company has implemented a correct and safe management of chemical substances in accordance with the European REACH regulation, ensuring the registration, evaluation and restriction of every chemical product used to guarantee the management of risks concerning its use, both for the environment and for human health.

Chemical-physical tests

In accordance with our declared objectives and commitments to our customers, all batches of finished leather are subjected to numerous chemical and physical quality tests, including the following

The ageing weathering test is a test that simulates the effects caused by atmospheric conditions on leathers for all purposes, even with a surface finish. In particular, the test reproduces the damage caused by sunlight and rain. This type of test generally involves very prolonged exposure inside the chamber, because the consequences of damage caused by sunlight and rain manifest themselves not so much in the short term (300/400 hours) but very much in the long term (1500/2000 hours).

The flexometric test is able to test the resistance to bending or other types of failure in bending folds.

The specimen is bent with the surface to be tested inwards and clamped in a movable upper clamp and with the surface to be tested outwards in a fixed lower clamp. The movement of the upper clamp causes a crease in the test piece to slide with it. The test piece is periodically examined for damage.

The tensile test is a very important material characterisation test, as it allows us to measure the breaking strength of leathers for each intended use subjected to an elongation process.

During this mechanical test, the specimen is subjected to an increasingly high mono-axial load, triggering a deformation process whose final stage is to reach breaking strength.

This is a particular test performed on a textile to measure resistance to a tear. A piece of leather on which a cut has been made at the edge is clamped between the pliers of the dynamometer, which applies an increasing force to the incision. The device measures from the beginning of the tear the force required to break the whole sample in both warp and weft directions. The shape of the sample determines the type of standard and test to be performed.

The migration test is useful to determine if the leather, when placed in contact with a standard white plastic material, can give rise to colour migration phenomena and their entity. It is important to check whether the leather can be used with safety in the manufacture of articles in which different materials are present.

The veslic test assesses the colour resistance to rubbing by verifying the dry and wet rubbing resistance of the colour, and then testing the response of the surface of a leather to rubbing with a wool felt.

Water resistance is a specific test for highly water-resistant leathers, typical of products that must be subjected to long-lasting and dynamic contact with water, such as leather for work shoes, motorcyclist suits, etc… Samples of leather are inserted into special equipment and immersed in a water bath, then subjected to a non-excessive bending. The test can be performed to check the time taken for the water to pass through the section of leather or to check its absorption capacity.
